Who’d dare to breathe this fern-thick bird-rich day?
On Saturday last, we went (as we do every year) to the mountains of western Maryland. There we seek out apples and pumpkins at orchard stands, and then, if the weather is good, retreat into the forest for a picnic and a walk.

Rainy Weekend, How to Deal with ...
It was a very Scottish sort of autumn weekend, which is to say it was dreich, and by 4 pm Saturday I'd moved to that irrational mental space in which it has always been 4 pm, always been raining, and ever shall be both, world without end, amen.

This too shall pass
The deadlines are coming hard and fast, not whooshing by gracefully but slamming into bodies like so many hailstones. The bruises are starting to mount, and the only serious consolations available are 'it's not just me' and 'this too shall pass.'

Food again
More food posting. Autumn seems to be my best season to cook. Also, while I am trying to finish the doll, it's agonisingly slow. Knit knit knit.
