Just so.

Oh, if these new pagans would only be old pagans, they would be a little wiser! The old pagans knew that mere naked Nature-worship must have a cruel side. They knew that the eye of Apollo can blast and blind.

G.K. Chesterton, 'The Eye of Apollo' (in The Innocence of Father Brown)

It is at once gratifying and mildly aggravating to find something one has been trying to say for years expressed so well and pithily by someone who departed this life some 35 years before one entered it.

Given my deep and abiding love of Mr Chesterton, however, I think I'm more gratified than annoyed.
